South Suburban Joint Action Water Agency

The municipalities of Alsip, Blue Island, Calumet Park, Harvey, Markham, Midlothian, and Robbins have joined together to form the South Suburban Joint Action Water Agency (SSJAWA).

The SSJAWA is studying the viability of designing, constructing and operating a potable water supply system that will provide safe drinking water at a reasonable price to its member communities.  The study is comparing current supply cost increases with cost projections for a SSJAWA owned system. Once cost savings are determined, then design, construction and operation of a new potable water supply can begin.
